Our Journey together is off to a great start! I have received a lot of great comments, feedback & support for Union Specific. Your enthusiasm toward it is great. It has been two weeks guys, and the response is exactly what I expected. Thank you!
We all know this journey is as much about YOU as it is about ME (YOU + ME = US). Don’t forget that. It’s all about US! But I want to pose this question… What is it about US? What is it about who we are that defines the connections we make in life? What is it about our character that touches people’s lives and makes them want to stay around US? (Yeah, I know that’s 3 questions, but they are all the same just asked differently.) The answer to these questions is the essence of US. With me, I do my best to be genuine and honest at all times with everyone I meet. I am myself no matter where I am or who I am around. That’s the only way I know how to be. If I acted any other way, we would not be here today. I would not have met any of the people in my life now. Wait… Maybe we would have met but that would have been it. There would have been nothing else after that. You would have immediately picked up on the fact I was not authentic. I know all of you at one time or anotherin life have experienced “fake.” Fake just has a whole different feeling. Fake leaves this nasty taste in your mouth. There can never be US if you are fake or not true to yourself. Russell Simmons says it like this; “Truth rings a bell that the whole world can hear. Truth is something that doesn’t know race or class or languages or borders. It’s something that connects all humanity. No matter who you are or where you live, you can always FEEL the truth”. So let the truth be told people! Let’s get Specific. We all have certain character traits which connect US.
What is it about US?
Spirit comes to mind when I think about the question, what is it about who we are that defines the connections we make in life?
ReplyDeleteSpirit is the essence of what you carry with you, and the flavor of your personality. The inner you, if you are real and genuine your spirit will reflect that in the way your walk, talk carry yourself and think. If you are angry and deceitful your spirit will reflect that. I choose to be positive and I feel my spirit sends an energy that is indescribable. (For those that know me you know and those that don’t may know one day)When I come into contact with people some say it’s my infectious smile, others just say it’s my personality (easy going, talkative) that is so awesome.
Recently I had to share news of my relocation out of Boston with close friends and family from that area. A bag of mixed emotions for folks; they are happy for my new job opportunity, but sad to see me go. One person shared, “Even though I don’t see you much, just knowing that you are here and close by is comforting.” The person that actually shared those thoughts we with opened up and let her honest spirit shine through. The words were special to me knowing I touched this woman in ways I may never know. She is the mother of one of my best friends. I was so moved by what she told me, as I informed more of my family and friends about my new opportunity, there was the same hesitation, a bag of mixed emotions written on their faces or a pause of silence over the phone. So I began sharing the honest conversation I had with my best friend’s mom. The reaction is the same, “Wow that is EXACTLY how I feel, but I didn’t want to say it.” So this experience has made me realize what an impact I have on people’s lives. I refuse to be negative; there is not place for it in me. Each bit of bad energy will not eat away at the God in me.
If a person comes in contact with someone with a mean and sour spirit run and run fast unless you’re strong enough to invoke your good spirit upon them. Some people have that quality others do not. If you don’t I advise you to get away from that person because it will damper your spirit and eat at the good and God in you. There is nothing worse than someone casting their somber outlook on life on you. I am sure if the were a vaccine for preventing people’s ill spirit to come in contact with us, people would take it. Or might the government and state require the vaccine like the MMR or would be optional like the Flu Shot?
So Union Specific does not conclude; it exhumes spirits to be up lifted and explore this journey with US and within us.
